The ceramic roots to Helen’s hand-built works lie in British studio pottery – she studied with Mick Casson, Geoff Swindell, Alan Barrett-Danes, Peter Starkey. They also reach into the deep history of ceramics: she has explored new forms of terra sigillata, the ancient process of manipulating fine slip surface (Portfolio Series 1 through 4 [Link] [Link] [Link] [Link]). In 2016 Helen moved to porcelain with accompanying work in encaustic/acrylic [Link – series 5] [Link – series 6].
